A Girl Like Me

Mellow.

Lately, actually with the day that this week began, I've been feeling mellow*. This was the first word I could think of when I was contemplating my mood. It started raining on Monday and everything looks so grey and it looks like the world has stopped except for the nature. It's bursting. Everything is turning green. These two, grey and green, are the only colors that are surrounding me and it is beautiful. But sometimes we need other colors too, and it is very refreshing to see the colors elsewhere. Like in a city which shares the most common belief - that it is gray, dull and full of smog. 

But the most beautiful color of all is a light blue, clear sky. And I'm looking forward to see more of it.

Things I Love.

I've taken a little time off blogging because I had nothing inspiring to write and I was dealing with my own problems (nothing serious, just the everyday stuff that bugs you, you know). Drama, drama, drama.

So I thought I should show you the stuff I love.  

When I was in London, I got the first issue of The Gentlewoman magazine. It's a sister magazine to Fantastic Man (which is an awesome magazine for gentlemen). Penny Martin, magazine's editor in chief said that the magazine is about modernity and women who are just fantastic. So it was only natural to put Phoebe Philo on the cover. After taking a couple of years off, she made a comeback as Celine's creative director. She has a way of designing clothes to show fashion as it is, there's nothing arty or conceptual, it's just strong and powerful and clean. The two collections she made by now, show us a very basic colour scheme of mostly nudes, black and navy with simple but very strong cuts, silk blouses, camel coats, soft leather shirts, wide-legged high-waist pants...I could go on and on. It's classic, luxurious and clean...just the way I like it.

  

I've got 99 problems but my shoes ain't one.

I was told I should blog more, but didn't feel like it, until now (I think).So just a quick photo post to let you know that I'm still here. I was browsing through my files and found this photo. The title* sums it up pretty good.

 

 

*For all of you out there who are not Jay-Z fans, here's a link. I love Jay-Z, I love the whole hip-hop/rap thingy in general, believe it or not.

Red Velvet.

Browsing through style.com I stumbled across top ten fall must-haves, one of them featuring Joseph Altuzarra's red velvety (is that even a word??) power suits and long flowing capes. I like it, but you know, when it comes to red velvet, it's all about cupcakes for me. Ohhh, just the thought of them is mouthwatering. When I'm in London I always get one (or two) at the Hummingbird Bakery on Portobello. They are just too perfect for words.

 

Easter weekend is coming and if anyone has any time, make a batch or two of these lovely cupcakes (and don't forget to call me afterwards, I will fly anywhere for them) and also check out Joseph Altuzarra, his creations are really aspiring.

I'm Baaaack.

Yup, I'm back. I'm really tired, London can be very exhausting but very inspiring and breathtaking at the same time. 

This isn't really a proper post you know (more will follow in the next days) but you must excuse me I'm not quite in the blogging mode right now.

To Pack Or Not To Pack.

Just a quick post to tell you that I'm not in London yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it. Tomorrow is the day. Can't wait. I haven't started packing, (although I said I would plan my outfits in advance), but I still have a lot of time, pifff, it's only Saturday now, oh yes, I 've got plenty of time. I'm a last moment girl, I pack when I was supposed to have packed already. Does this make any sense at all?? Ohh, got to go now, I'm very busy not packing my bags, I have to read a bunch of magazines, newspaper, a hot cup of coffee to drink and a movie to see. Ahhh, maybe I will find the time in between all this things to pack.

Did you know that there is a site  that has kind of a a packing calculator, you just insert some information about your trip and poof, everything you need to pack is right there. Well, that sure works for most of the people but it's not very useful for a fashionista (I actually don't like this word) like me who has to be stylish wherever I go. Being stylish can be very exhausting. Yes, it's really hard to be graceful, pulling your suitcase all around and trying not to sweat. Oh yeah, I'll see tomorrow how my theory works in practice. Hah. Note to myself: try to pack light!!!

A View On...Basics.

 

 
Basics. Only one word that causes so many problems. Well of course I'm exaggerating, that is what I do best. But sometimes finding your basics can be a problem. So many women (including me) are in a search for the perfect basics, the colors, the shapes, materials that suit you the best. But very often it happens that on coming trends mix up your mind and you no longer know whether you're doing it right or wrong. Yes, it happened to the most of us. Very often the effortless look takes a lot of effort.                             A very wise man Tom Ford once said that fashion was meant to be fun, we shouldn't be scared of it. After a few hours of thinking what else should I add to this, I decided that I'm going to leave you with my last thought. Even though the topic is about basics, don't be afraid to step out, just have fun, experiment a little, be happy, smile and you'll look like a million dollars.

 

 

Good Morning.

 

Birthday Time.

Yesterday was my mother's birthday (once again, Happy birthday Mom        ) so we had the usual celebration with the cake and everything, We had lunch which was delicious, words can't really describe it, But the cake was really the best thing. Me and my sister made it, seriously, I've tried a lot of cakes but this one was too good for words (now I'm just bragging, hihih).

  

 

 

 

Looks nice, doesn't it? But you know, there's no more left, yes, we ate it all, right away. It was gone before you could say, can I have another piece, which is actually good because no one likes to weep in the morning because the scale is saying, you had one piece too much. 

It really was a very nice weekend.
